Novena to the Holy Face of Jesus
O Lord Jesus Christ, in presenting ourselves before Thine adorable Face, to ask of Thee the graces of which we stand in most need, we beseech Thee above all, to grant us that interior disposition of never refusing at any time to what Thou require of us by Thy holy commandments and divine inspirations. Amen. O Good Jesus, who hadst said, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you," grant us O Lord, that faith which obtains all, or supply in us what may be deficient; grant us, by the pure effect of Thy charity, and for Thine eternal glory, the graces which we need and which we look from Thine infinite mercy. Amen.
Be merciful to us, O my God, and reject not our prayers, when amid our afflictions, we call upon Thy Holy Name and seek with love and confidence Thine adorable Face. Amen.
O Almighty and Eternal God, look upon the Face of Thy Son Jesus. We present It to Thee with confidence to implore Thy pardon. The All-Merciful Advocate opens His mouth to plead our cause; hearken to His cries, behold His tears, O God, and through His infinite merits, hearken to Him when He intercedes for us poor miserable sinners. Amen.
Adorable Face of Jesus, my only love, my light, and my life, grant that I may know Thee, love Thee and serve Thee alone, that I may live with Thee, of Thee, by Thee and for Thee. Amen.

O most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendour of heaven, blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in this my necessity. O Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein that you are my Mother. O holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of heaven and earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart, to succor me in this my necessity; there are none that can withstand your power. O show me herein that you are my Mother. Our Lady, Queen and Beauty of Carmel, pray for me and obtain my requests. Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands.
Assumption Novena
The Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary is celebrated every year on August 15th. This feast commemorates the death of the Blessed Virgin Mary and her assumption, body and soul, into Heaven. It is the most important Marian feast, and it is also a Holy Day of Obligation.
Novena Prayers
Lord Jesus Christ, You have destroyed the power of death and given the hope of eternal life in body and soul.
You granted your Mother a special place in your glory, and did not allow decay to touch her body.
As we rejoice in the Assumption of Mary, give to us a renewed confidence in the victory of
life over death.
You live and reign forever and ever.

Day 1
Immaculate Virgin, Mother of Jesus and our Mother, we believe in your triumphant assumption into heaven where the angels and saints acclaim you as Queen of Heaven and earth.
We join them in praising you and bless the Lord who raised you above all creatures. With them we honor you.
We are confident that you watch over our daily lives and we ask that you intercede for us now.

Lift our hearts with you in the glory of your Assumption above the dreadful touch of sin and impurity.
Teach us how small earth becomes when viewed from heaven. Make us realize that death is the triumphant gate through which we shall pass to your Son and that someday our bodies shall rejoin our souls in the unending bliss of heaven.
From this earth, over which we tread as pilgrims, we look to you for help.
In honor of your Assumption into Heaven we ask for this favor.

വീണുപോകുന്ന വൈദികരും സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയായിലെ വിശ്വാസികളും
വിശ്വാസികള് തിരക്കിലാണ്. കത്തോലിക്കാ സഭയിലെ ഒരു വൈദികനെ പീഡനകേസിൽ പോലീസ് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തു. ഈ സംഭവം ചർച്ച ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടും പരിഹാരം നിർദ്ദേശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടും വിശ്വാസികള് സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയായിൽ സജ്ജീവമാണ്. ഈ കാഴ്ചകളെല്ലാം കണ്ടുകൊണ്ട് ഒരാള് മാറിയിരുന്നു കൈകൊട്ടി ചിരിക്കുന്നു. അത് മറ്റാരുമല്ല. ബൈബിളിൽ "ശത്രു" എന്നു വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കുന്ന പിശാച്.
ക്രിസ്തുവിനു ശേഷം സഭയുടെ രണ്ടായിരം വര്ഷത്തെ ചരിത്രം പരിശോധിച്ചാല് ഒരു കാര്യം വ്യക്തമാകും- വിശ്വാസികളെ സഭയില് നിന്നകറ്റാന് പിശാച് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നത് രണ്ടു വിധത്തിലാണ്. ഒന്ന്- സഭയിലെ പുരോഹിതരെ പാപത്തില് വീഴ്ത്തുക. രണ്ട്- ഈ പാപം പ്രചരിപ്പിച്ച് വിശ്വാസികള്ക്ക് സഭയോട് വെറുപ്പുളവാക്കുക. ഇതില് ആദ്യത്തേതില് പിശാചിന്റെ ഇര വൈദികരാണെങ്കില് രണ്ടാമത്തേതില് അവന് ഇരയാക്കുന്നത് വിശ്വാസികളെയാണ്. വൈദികരും വിശ്വാസികളും ഈ ദൗത്യം ഭംഗിയായി നിര്വഹിക്കുമ്പോള് സഭയുടെ ശത്രുവായ പിശാച് കൈകൊട്ടി ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
കത്തോലിക്കാ സഭയിലെ ഏകദേശം അഞ്ച് ലക്ഷത്തോളം വരുന്ന വൈദികരില് രണ്ടോ മൂന്നോ വൈദികര് ഓരോ വര്ഷവും കുറ്റകൃത്യങ്ങള് മൂലം അറസ്റ്റു ചെയ്യപ്പെടുമ്പോള് അത് വലിയ വാര്ത്തയാകാറുണ്ട്. ഈ വാര്ത്തകള് സോഷ്യല് മീഡിയായിലൂടെ പ്രചരിക്കുമ്പോള് തെറ്റു ചെയ്ത പുരോഹിതനെ കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന പോസ്റ്റുകള് ഒരു ശതമാനമാണെങ്കില് ഇതിന്റെ പേരില് സഭയിലെ എല്ലാ പുരോഹിതരെയും സഭയുടെ കൂദാശകളെയും അടച്ച് ആക്ഷേപിക്കുന്ന പോസ്റ്റുകള് 99 ശതമാനമായിരിക്കും. അതിനാല് ഈ വിഷയത്തില് വിശ്വാസികള് അതീവ ജാഗ്രത പുലര്ത്തേണ്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
വിശുദ്ധമായ സഭയും പാപികളായ അംഗങ്ങളും
സഭ എന്നത് ഒരേസമയം മാനുഷികവും ദൈവികവുമായ ഒരു രഹസ്യമാണ്. അത് പാപികളുടെ സഭയാണ്. പാപികളായ സഭാമക്കളോട് ക്രിസ്തു അവഗാഢം ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. മാനുഷികവും ദൈവികവുമായതിന്റെ, പാപത്തിന്റെയും ദൈവകൃപയുടെയും അവിഭാജ്യമായ ഐക്യമാണ് സഭയെന്ന രഹസ്യം. ഒരു വൈദികന്റെ പാപം വിശ്വാസികളിലേക്ക് ദൈവം വര്ഷിക്കുന്ന കൃപാവരങ്ങളെ തടസ്സപ്പെടുത്തുന്നില്ല. അതിനാല് ഒരു വൈദികന് വീഴുമ്പോള് വിശ്വാസികള് ഒരുപാട് അസ്വസ്ഥരാകേണ്ട കാര്യമില്ല.
തെറ്റു ചെയ്തവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കാന് രാജ്യത്ത് നിയമവും കോടതിയും ഉണ്ടല്ലോ. തെറ്റു ചെയ്തവര് ആരു തന്നെയായിരുന്നാലും അവര് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായവിധിക്കു മുമ്പില് നില്ക്കേണ്ടവനാണല്ലോ. സഭ വിശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കുന്നത് അതിന്റെ സകല അംഗങ്ങളും വിശുദ്ധരാണെന്നു സങ്കല്പ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതു കൊണ്ടല്ല. പിന്നെയോ ദൈവം പരിശുദ്ധനായതുകൊണ്ടും അവിടുന്ന് സഭയില് പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടുമാണ്.
വൈദികരുടെ വീഴ്ച ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നവരെ തിരിച്ചറിയുക
സഭയേയും വൈദികരെയും കൂദാശകളെയും ആക്ഷേപിക്കാന് സോഷ്യല് മീഡിയായില് സജ്ജീവമായിരിക്കുന്ന നിരവധി ഗ്രൂപ്പുകള് ഉണ്ട്. ഈ ഗ്രൂപ്പുകള്ക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നല്കുന്നത് ക്രിസ്ത്യാനികൾ തന്നെയാണ് എന്നതാണ് ഖേദകരം. ഇക്കൂട്ടര് ഓരോ പ്രഭാതത്തിലും ഉണരുന്നതുതന്നെ ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒരു വൈദികന്റെ വീഴ്ച ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു കൊണ്ടാണ്. ഇക്കൂട്ടര്ക്ക് വൈദികരുടെ വീഴ്ച ഒരു ആഘോഷമാണ്. വൈദികന് പീഡിപ്പിച്ച കുട്ടിയുടെ വേദനയോ ആ കുടുംബത്തിനുണ്ടായ നഷ്ടമോ ഇക്കൂട്ടര്ക്ക് വേദനയുളവാക്കുന്നില്ല. പിന്നെയോ ഒരു വൈദികന്റെ പാപം ഉയര്ത്തിക്കാട്ടി വിശ്വാസികളെ സഭയില് നിന്നും അകറ്റാം എന്ന സന്തോഷത്തില് അവര് സഭയിലെ പുരോഹിത വര്ഗ്ഗത്തെ മുഴുവന് അസഭ്യം പറയുന്നു. സഭയിലെ കൂദാശകളെയും അതില് പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന വിശ്വാസികളെയും അധിക്ഷേപിക്കുന്നു. സമൂഹത്തിലെ തിന്മക്കെതിരെ പ്രചാരണം നടത്തുന്നു എന്ന വ്യാജേന അവർ സഭാമാതാവിനെ കല്ലെറിയുകയാണ് ചെയ്യുന്നത് എന്ന സത്യം വിശ്വാസികള് തിരിച്ചറിയണം.
വൈദികരുടെ മധ്യസ്ഥനായ വി. ജോണ് മരിയ വിയാനി പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുകള് നമ്മുടെ കണ്ണുകളെ തുറക്കട്ടെ. "മതത്തെ നശിപ്പിക്കാന് ഒരുവന് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചാല് അയാള് വൈദികരെ ആക്രമിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് തുടങ്ങുന്നു. എന്തെന്നാല് എവിടെ വൈദികരില്ലാതാവുന്നോ അവിടെയെല്ലാം ബലികളും ഇല്ലാതാകുന്നു. എവിടെ ബലികള് ഇല്ലാതാകുന്നുവോ അവിടെ മതവും ഇല്ലാതാകുന്നു".
പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കാത്തവര് വിമര്ശിക്കാതിരിക്കട്ടെ
ഒരു വൈദികന് എന്നത് ആകാശത്തു നിന്നും ഇറങ്ങി വന്ന ഒരു വിശുദ്ധ വ്യക്തിയല്ല. പാപികളായ മാതാപിതാക്കള്ക്ക് പിറന്ന്, പാപകരമായ സാഹചര്യങ്ങളില് വളര്ന്ന്, പാപങ്ങള് നിറഞ്ഞ സാമൂഹ്യ അന്തരീക്ഷത്തില് ജീവിക്കുന്ന ഒരു യുവാവാണ് പിന്നീട് വൈദികനായി തീരുന്നത്. അതിനാൽ സമൂഹത്തിൽ ഏതൊക്കെ തിന്മ നിലനിൽക്കുന്നുണ്ടോ അതിന്റെയെല്ലാം സ്വാധീനം വൈദികരിലും ഉണ്ടാകും. തന്റെ ജീവിതത്തില് ലഭിക്കാവുന്ന നിരവധി ലൗകിക സുഖങ്ങള് സ്വമനസ്സാലെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു കൊണ്ടാണ് നിരവധി വര്ഷങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനയ്ക്കും പരിശീലനത്തിനും ശേഷം "തിരുപ്പട്ടം" എന്ന കൂദാശ സ്വീകരിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് ഒരാൾ വൈദികനാകുന്നത്. ഇപ്രകാരം ഒരു യുവാവ് വൈദികനായി തീരുമ്പോള് പിശാച് ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല് ലക്ഷ്യമിടുന്നത് ഈ വൈദികനെ തന്നെയായിരിക്കും.
ഒരു സാധാരണ വിശ്വാസിയുടെ വീഴ്ച ദിനപത്രങ്ങളിലെ ഒരു ചെറിയ കോളം വാര്ത്തയാണെങ്കില് ഒരു വൈദികന്റെ വീഴ്ച ആ പത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വാര്ത്തയായിരിക്കുമെന്ന് പിശാചിന് നന്നായി അറിയാം. ഒരു വിശ്വാസി പാപം ചെയ്താല് അത് മറ്റു വിശ്വാസികളുടെ വിശ്വാസത്തിനു കോട്ടം തട്ടുകയില്ല. എന്നാല് ഒരു വൈദികന്റെ വീഴ്ച അനേകം വ്യക്തികളെ ദൈവവിശ്വാസത്തില് നിന്നകറ്റാന് കാരണമാകുമെന്ന് തിരിച്ചറിയുന്ന പിശാച് വൈദികനെ വീഴ്ത്താന് കഠിന പരിശ്രമം നടത്തുന്നു. അതിനാല് തന്നെ ഓരോ വൈദികനും വേണ്ടി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കുക എന്ന വലിയ ഉത്തരവാദിത്വം ഓരോ വിശ്വാസിക്കുമുണ്ട്. ഇപ്രകാരം വൈദികര്ക്കു വേണ്ടി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കാത്ത വരാണോ നമ്മള്? എങ്കില് അവരെ വിമര്ശിക്കാനും നമുക്ക് അവകാശമില്ല. കാരണം അവരുടെ വീഴ്ചയില് ഒരു ചെറിയ പങ്ക് നമുക്കും ഉണ്ട്.
പാപം ഇല്ലാത്തവന് ആദ്യം കല്ലെറിയട്ടെ
വ്യഭിചാരത്തില് പിടിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഒരു സ്ത്രീയെ നിയമജ്ഞരും ഫരിസേയരും കൂടി യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നതായി നാം ബൈബിളില് കാണുന്നു (യോഹ. 8:1-11). ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവരെ കല്ലെറിയണമെന്നാണ് മോശ കല്പ്പിച്ചിരുന്നത്. എന്നാല് യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു: "നിങ്ങളില് പാപം ഇല്ലാത്തവന് ആദ്യം അവളെ കല്ലെറിയട്ടെ". ഇതു കേട്ടപ്പോള് മുതിര്ന്നവര് ഓരോരുത്തരായി സ്ഥലം വിട്ടു. ഒടുവില് യേശുവും ആ സ്ത്രീയും മാത്രം അവശേഷിച്ചു. ഒരു വൈദികന് ചെയ്ത തെറ്റിന്റെ പേരില് വൈദികരെ മുഴുവന് ആക്ഷേപിക്കുന്ന സോഷ്യല് മീഡിയാ സുഹൃത്തുക്കളോടും 'നിങ്ങളില് പാപം ചെയ്യാത്തവന് ആദ്യം കല്ലെറിയട്ടെ' എന്നു ദൈവം പറഞ്ഞാല് ആരും അവശേഷിക്കില്ല എന്നു നമുക്കെല്ലാവര്ക്കും നന്നായി അറിയാം. ഇന്നു നാം വീഴാതെ നിൽക്കുന്നുണ്ടങ്കിൽ അതിനു ദൈവത്തിനു നന്ദി പറയാം കാരണം നാളെ നമ്മളും വീണുപോയേക്കാം.
സഭയില് മാറ്റം വരുത്തുവാന് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരോട്
ഇതിനിടെ വൈദികരെ വന്ധ്യംകരിക്കണമെന്നും പുരോഹിതരെ മുഴുവന് വിവാഹം കഴിപ്പിക്കണമെന്നുള്ള ആവശ്യവുമായി ചിലര് ഇറങ്ങിത്തിരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. കേരളത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്ന പീഡനങ്ങളുടെ കണക്കെടുത്താൽ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു കുടുംബജീവിതം നയിക്കുന്നവർക്കാണ് ഇക്കാര്യത്തിൽ കൂടുതലും തെറ്റുപറ്റുന്നത് എന്നു മനസ്സിലാക്കുവാൻ സാധിക്കും. അതുകൊണ്ട് സഭയിലെ ബ്രഹ്മചര്യമാണ് ഇതിനു കാരണം എന്നു പറയുക സാധ്യമല്ല.
സഭയിലെ അംഗങ്ങള്ക്ക് തെറ്റുകളും കുറവുകളും എല്ലാക്കാലങ്ങളിലും സംഭവിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. മദര് തെരേസ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന കാലഘട്ടത്തിലും ഇതുപോലുള്ള തെറ്റുകള് സംഭവിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇപ്രകാരം തെറ്റുകളെ നിര്മ്മാര്ജ്ജനം ചെയ്യാന് സഭയില് മാറ്റം ആവശ്യമാണെന്നു വാദിച്ചിരുന്ന ഒരു പത്രപ്രവര്ത്തകര് ഒരിക്കല് മദര് തെരേസയോട് ഇപ്രകാരം ചോദിച്ചു. "സഭയില് ഏതു മേഖലയിലാണ് ഒരു മാറ്റം വേണമെന്ന് അമ്മ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നത്?" മദര് ആ പത്രപ്രവര്ത്തകന്റെ നേരെ നോക്കി ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു:- "സഭയില് മാറ്റം വേണ്ടത് എന്നിലും നിന്നിലുമാണ്".
ആരാണ് പുരോഹിതന്?
ഒരു പുരോഹിതന് പാപം ചെയ്തു എന്നു കേട്ടാല് നാം വളരെയേറെ അസ്വസ്ഥരാകാറുണ്ട്. എങ്ങനെയാണ് ഒരു പുരോഹിതന് ഇപ്രകാരമുള്ള പാപങ്ങള് ചെയ്യാന് സാധിക്കുക? ഒരു വൈദികന്റെ വീഴ്ച നമ്മുടെ ക്രൈസ്തവ വിശ്വാസത്തെ തന്നെ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്തേക്കാം. അതിനാല് ആരാണ് ഒരു വൈദികന് എന്നു നാം അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നത് നന്നായിരിക്കും.
പഴയ നിയമത്തിലെ വൈദികര് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗീയ കാര്യങ്ങളുടെയും ഭൗതിക കാര്യങ്ങളുടെയും ഇടക്കുള്ള, അതായത് ദൈവത്തിനും മനുഷ്യർക്കും ഇടയിലുള്ള മധ്യസ്ഥരായിരുന്നു. എന്നാല് ക്രിസ്തു ആ പൗരോഹിത്യം പൂര്ണ്ണമാക്കുകയും അവസാനിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു (YOUCAT 250). ഇന്ന് സഭയില് നാം കാണുന്ന വൈദികര് തന്റെ സ്വന്തം അധികാരത്താലോ ധാര്മ്മിക പൂര്ണ്ണതയാലോ അല്ല പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നത്. പിന്നെയോ, ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമത്തിലാണ്.
ഈ വൈദികര്ക്ക് സ്വന്തമായി ഒന്നുമില്ലാത്തതിനാല് അയാള് സര്വ്വോപരി ഒരു ദാസനാണ്. ഇതേപ്പറ്റി വി. തോമസ് അക്വീനാസ് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുന്നു: "ക്രിസ്തു മാത്രമാണ് യഥാര്ത്ഥ പുരോഹിതന്. എന്നാല് മറ്റുള്ളവര് അവിടുത്തെ ശുശ്രൂഷകരാണ്". അതിനാല് ക്രിസ്തു മാത്രമാണ് നമ്മുടെ പുരോഹിതന്. അവൻ ഒരിക്കലും പാപം ചെയ്യാത്തവനും, നമുക്കു വേണ്ടി പീഡകള് സഹിച്ചു മരിച്ചവനും, ഉത്ഥാനം ചെയ്തവനും, പിതാവിന്റെ വലതുഭാഗത്ത് നമുക്കുവേണ്ടി മാധ്യസ്ഥം വഹിക്കുന്നവനുമാണ്. അതിനാൽ ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ നോക്കിവേണം നാം ഓടാൻ. നമ്മുടെ ക്രിസ്തീയ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യവും മാർഗ്ഗവും ക്രിസ്തു മാത്രമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.
ഇന്നു സഭയില് കാണുന്ന വൈദികര് സേവകരാണെങ്കില് അവരുടെ യജമാനന് ക്രിസ്തുവാണ്. ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ സേവകരായ വൈദികര് വീഴുമ്പോള് അവരെ വിധിക്കാന് നാം ആരാണ്? അവരുടെ യജമാനനായ ക്രിസ്തു തന്നെ അവരെ വിധിക്കട്ടെ. "മറ്റൊരാളുടെ സേവകനെ വിധിക്കാന് നീ ആരാണ്? സ്വന്തം യജമാനന്റെ സന്നിധിയിലാണ് അവന് നില്ക്കുകയോ വീഴുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നത്" (റോമ. 14:4). വൈദികര് ചെയ്യുന്ന ചെറിയ പാപങ്ങള് പോലും സമൂഹത്തില് ആഴമായ മുറിവുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു എന്നത് സത്യമാണ്. ഓരോ വൈദികന് പാപം ചെയ്യുമ്പോഴും സഭാമാതാവ് കരയുന്നു. ഇത്തരം തെറ്റുകളുടെ ഗൗരവം തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു കൊണ്ട് സഭയിലെ എല്ലാ വൈദികര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി നമുക്കു പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കാം.
അഞ്ചുലക്ഷം വൈദികരിൽ രണ്ടോ മൂന്നോ പേർ വീഴുമ്പോൾ അത് ഉയർത്തിക്കാട്ടി സഭാമാതാവിനെ വിമര്ശിക്കുന്നവര് ദൈവശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായ ഫാ. കാള് റാനര് പറഞ്ഞത് ഓര്മ്മിക്കുന്നത് നന്നായിരിക്കും- "സഭ ചുളിവുകളും ചാലുകളുമുള്ള ഒരു വൃദ്ധയാണ്; എന്നിരുന്നാലും അവള് എന്റെ അമ്മയാണ്. സ്വന്തം അമ്മയെ ഒരുത്തനും തല്ലുകയില്ല". പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട സഹോദരങ്ങളെ നമുക്കു ചിന്തിക്കാം- നാം ചുളിവുകളുള്ള അമ്മയെ തല്ലുന്നവരാണോ?
